Our Courses
Regular Courses
The regular courses offered at The Hunar Foundation are of one year in duration, commencing in January and July every year. Each course is divided into two semesters, Level I & Level II. The trades are allocated to students based on their aptitude and performance in the entry test & interview. Students attain certification after the successful completion of the course and six months work placement in local industry.
The vocations/ trades have been selected based on a survey of manpower demand in the construction industry at home and in the Gulf States. Presently five trades have been selected which are currently available for boys; while white collar trades and vocations exclusively for women are being formulated and will be announced soon.
- Electrical Installation: This is a one year, competency based training programme, designed to develop the skills of the trainee to internationally acceptable levels enabling him/her to work as a competent electrician in the construction, services and manufacturing industry.
- Mechanical Fitting & Plant Maintenance: This one year course, is a competency based training programme, designed to develop the skills of the trainee to internationally acceptable levels enabling him/her to work as General Fitter & Fabricator in Mehanical and Sheet Metal Workshops in the construction and manufacturing industry.
- Plumbing: This is a competency based training programme designed to develop the skills of the trainee to internationally acceptable levels enabling him/her to work as a certified Plumber and Pipe Fitter in the construction and service industry.
- Fabrication, Welding & Pipe work: This is a one year, competency based training programme designed to develop the skills of the trainee to internationally acceptable levels enabling him/her to work as a certified Welder (Electric Arc and Gas), in local and foreign industry.
- Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning: This is a one-year, competency based training programme designed to develop the skills of the trainee to internationally acceptable levels enabling him/ her to work as a competent Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic in the construction & manufacturing industry.
Skill Enhancement Courses
In addition to the regular courses, THF is now offering short courses of about six months in duration, in the evenings (6 pm - 9 pm), for skill enhancement.
General Electrician: This course is designed to provide instruction in essential practical skills for those undergoing training or already employed in this field who wish to further develop their skills.
Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning: This course is designed to provide instruction in essential practical skills for those undergoing training or already employed in this field who wish to further develop their skills.
Digital Media (Web Designing & Programming): This course aims to provide students with complete hands-on training in web and graphic design. Modules covered will include introduction to graphics & advertising for the web, still graphics, animated graphics, basic and advanced programming.
Electronic Media (Audio, Video Post-Production): This course aims to provide students with complete hands-on training in graphic design. Modules covered will include concept of Story Boarding, working with audio & video and motion graphics.
